Description:
A circular route in the south-east area of the Marganai massif with departure from the imposing entrance of the S.Giovanni’s Caves, nearby Domusnovas.
The cave of S.Giovanni is unique in Italy, thanks to an 800 Meters long gallery perforating Monte Acqua, whichs offers the possibility to simply walk through the whole cave. Worth to admire, the imposing, basin-shaped and superposed formations, called “gours”, among the biggest in Italy.
In the whole world there are only two more caves Mas d’Azil, in France and Jenolan Cave, in Australia, crossed by a road. In the past, this path was used to transport lead, zinc and copper extracted from the rich mines nearby.

Our itinerary leaves from here, to the small church of San Giovanni, continuing on a small path that leads to the wooded saddle between Monte Acqua and Punta Su Forru and to the holm-oak wood of Su Corovau.
